I serve at St. Gabriel the Archangel, where my mission is to help our parish experience the same kind of renewal happening in Newman Centers all over the country. FOCUS has seen tremendous fruit on campus through friendship, intentional accompaniment, and lived discipleship.

Now, we are bringing this model into parish life so that families, young adults, and long-time parishioners can experience the same transformation. What we build here together has the potential to influence how FOCUS serves the entire diocese moving forward.

My story begins in Peru, where I was born and raised before my family moved around the world. Even though my childhood spanned multiple countries, my faith became personal at a very young age. When I was eight, I had a powerful encounter with Mary that revealed how deeply God sees and loves His children. That moment shaped my entire life.

After eventually settling in Arizona and graduating from Grand Canyon University, I attended the FOCUS SEEK Conference, where I witnessed the radical impact of discipleship lived through friendship. I saw young people longing for God and meeting Him through the accompaniment of missionaries who loved them. I knew God was calling me to that same mission.

I served at the University of Arizona as a FOCUS missionary for two years, and I witnessed firsthand the kind of transformation that happens when people encounter the Gospel in the context of a friendship. Students grew in prayer, found healing, and discovered their identity in Christ, not because of programs, but because someone invested in them.

That desire to help people encounter Jesus personally is what led me to become a parish missionary today. The battle to change the culture may begin on a college campus, but the victory must be won in the parish.

This is the same model that has transformed Newman Centers across the country, and now it is being brought into parish life for long-term renewal.
