We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I will be serving for my second year at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL (SIU E)
During the height of the pandemic, I thought deeper about how I was living my life and realized that Christ was not in the center. I began to pray daily and realized that it was God who was leading me. By listening to Jesus and staying close to Him, I was the most joyful and free I had ever been. God’s love is the greatest gift I have ever received! I wanted to lead my fellow college students to be closer to God, through prayer and pursuing their friendship.
Jesus taught his disciples to pray, to rely on Him, how to live virtuously, and so much more. Jesus also taught them to go out and teach other people about Him. We have the same calling! I know God put me on this earth to help others remain close to Him.
In the organization of FOCUS, my role is to guide and support college students to grow closer to God. The missionaries do this from the fruit of their time with God (prayer), leading Bible studies, accompanying students on the journey of their relationship with God, pursuing friendships with students, discipleship (showing students how to teach other people about God), and so much more.
Our goal is to not only help students stay close to Jesus, but to teach them to teach others about Jesus. This type of evangelization allows students to be very prepared to teach others and to bring Christ to generations to come.

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
