I completed my last semester as a December graduate on the FOCUS team at the University of Maryland, College Park.

I am a missionary today because I encountered Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. I would not be here today without the gift of the sacraments that the Catholic Student Center at the University of Maryland offered me. When one of my friends in college invited me into a FOCUS bible study, I saw the joy that the women in the bible study possessed, and I wanted that for myself. I noticed that they received Jesus in mass and daily prayer, and soon I began to do the same. These women became my biggest support system throughout some of my toughest moments in college, and I consider them some of my best friends today. When I was invited into authentic friendship with my bible study leader and then to eventually lead my own bible study, I began to experience firsthand the beauty of living mission. My life centered around the sacraments, allowing me to pour love into the others around me and empower them to do the same to people in their lives. I could have never guessed I would be a missionary today, but I feel blessed to be here.

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to an encounter with Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’s own example to find the best method of reaching the world. I would love to share stories of the incredible ways I’ve been blessed to witness Jesus working in the lives of those around me.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely completely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. Without the generous support of my amazing support team, I would not be able to go out and be the hands and feet of Christ on campus.
