God has called me to serve college students at the University of Toledo for a second year! Go Rockets! I am blessed to be serving alongside my teammates (from left to right), Bryan Warday, Treyton Lamphier, Connery Van Dyke, Lydia Barrows, and Sydney Fricke. My freshman year of college I was chasing the typical “college culture” as a way to find some sort of happiness and fulfillment and I was coming up empty handed. With the help of some friends from our Catholic Student Center, I began going to student masses, and eventually regular Sunday Mass.

At the end of my freshman year of college, I was invited on a retreat where I encountered Jesus for the first time.

Through the example of our FOCUS missionaries on campus, I learned how to pray. Through prayer, I came to know the person of Jesus in a new way, and I knew that I had found a home in the Catholic Church.

I was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church in April of 2020. 

I knew I wanted to be a FOCUS missionary during the summer of 2021 when I spent my time serving the homeless in Denver and a group of students on a FOCUS mission trip joined us. I saw how many college students looked, spiritually, just like our homeless friends and didn’t realize it. I knew that I had once been in that very place and I wanted others to find their home in the Catholic Church too.

It was then that I was convicted of the Great Commission; to “go therefore and make disciples of all nations”, and the need for more missionaries and more people who know who God is and are willing to show others the way home.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
