My Story

My FOCUS origin story is a little unconventional…

Two months after graduation in May, I had a full-time internship in DC and fully planned on starting full-time that fall. After work one day, I saw a missed call from FOCUS, and you can imagine my utter befuddlement. When I was asked to consider joining staff in the fall, I knew God had a better plan for my life than I could have ever written. I said yes, and I am so glad I did!

FOCUS had me from the very beginning. I stepped out of daily Mass with my family during freshman orientation weekend at the University of Miami, and my FOCUS missionary Annie swooped me up right away! I joined her Bible study, and the rest was history. I had come to college knowing I wanted to get involved in Catholic life, but I had no idea how much FOCUS had to offer. Growing in Bible Study & Discipleship with other women pursuing the Lord was a truly transformative experience, and leading those groups my senior year sparked a fire within me. Your Impact

Jesus called His disciples to leave their nets by the water and follow Him to become “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19), traveling with Him for years before being sent out two by two to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). We are all called to make disciples in our communities and bring hearts to Christ! Not all of us are called to drop everything and become a missionary, but we are all called to be on mission! Your gift enables me to go on mission and bring hearts to Jesus in Dallas, but I encourage all y’all to be on mission in your own communities. Your family at home, coworkers in the office, and the strangers in the pew next to you are your mission field. Let us go out on mission together, united by our desire to show others the love of Jesus Christ!
