Growing up Catholic, going to mass every Sunday was the norm for me. My fantastic parents raised my sisters and I up in the faith, going to Sunday school, youth group, and more. But it wasn’t until college when my faith really became my own.

Showing up at University of Washington (go Dawgs!) I headed to the Catholic Newman Center my first Sunday not for love of Jesus, but because that’s just what I did. After the service, I tried to slip out the back without socializing, but then I ran into a FOCUS missionary (don’t worry he is ok). Long story short, when I finally left the Newman Center I had joined a bible study and was signed up to altar serve. And that was just the beginning.

Throughout my time at UW, FOCUS missionaries were continually there to have fun, offer support, and also most importantly challenge me to focus more on faith and develop a deeper relationship with Jesus. Whether that be Mitch inviting me to a Thursday night mass, or Jet encouraging me to go back to confession. I formed strong friendships with these men and was able to vulnerable and allow myself to grow and be challenged with them. My life has been transformed as a result.

Now I have been blessed with the opportunity to spread the good news on at SOMEWHERE? My prayer for the mission is to grow with young men, hear their stories, love them, and walk with them towards fullness of life in Christ.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. Partners are every bit as important to this mission as I am and are crucial in bringing the Gospel to the young people.
