We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I am so excited that God has called me to serve my first year on mission at Michigan State! Go Spartans!
After a fresh reversion back into my Catholic faith at the beginning of my college experience, I knew that my relationship with Jesus was important and something I deeply desired. However, I had no clue how I would foster that relationship within this very new college culture. It felt like I couldn’t have both.
As I continued to show up at the Newman Center, I was quickly plugged into a Bible study and introduced to the FOCUS missionaries on my campus. A few short weeks into my friendship with one of the missionaries, she called me and invited me to join the FOCUS team going on a mission trip to Kolkata, India, for a month during the summer. As crazy as I thought the idea was, I took a radical act of trust to her and God and said yes. Little did I know that this one bold yes would change my entire life. Many things about India changed my heart, but most importantly, I left with confidence that the Lord would continue to bless my yes to Him for the rest of my life!
Fast forward a year and a half later, and that same missionary called me again with another crazy idea.”Megan, what if you applied to become a FOCUS missionary?” Internally, I laughed at the idea, but this sequence of events seemed a little too familiar. Before I knew it, I had submitted an application and was sitting in the back seat of a car on the way to Kansas City for Interview Weekend. Throughout the entire weekend, I was consistently reminded that one yes to God through a FOCUS missionary had, at some point, led every person in that room to be there that weekend just like me. I was astonished by how much the Lord had done, not just through my yes, but through the yes’s of so many others as well.
Because a FOCUS missionary consistently invested in me, my life was changed. I began to think about the freshman girl who is just like I was, out there waiting for someone to invite her and encourage her to boldly say yes to the Lord in some way! She doesn’t know it yet but it will change her entire life! I am so excited to see what the Lord will do with the next two years of my life through another bold yes to Him!
When I said “yes” to serving with FOCUS I also said “yes” to living fully on mission — spiritually and financially supported by others who believe in this work.
If you feel called to partner with me in this mission, I would be so grateful. Your prayers and support allow me to be fully present to students and help them encounter God’s love and grace. I’d love to set up a time to talk more and share how God is moving on campus!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
