We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I will be serving as a first-year missionary at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I’m stoked to be serving alongside five (+2 wives) other missionaries on campus this year.
When I began college, I was a very “lukewarm” Catholic. I didn’t really understand exactly why I was Catholic until I had an encounter with the Eucharist at mass that made me realize. It’s because Jesus Christ is truly present at mass through the Eucharist. I was also blessed to encountered many impactful FOCUS missionaries who showed me what authentic friendship and living for Christ on a daily basis looked like. I began to go to Bible study, started to go to daily mass when possible, and began including God in my day-to-day life (like praying before an exam). These experiences coupled with becoming involved in campus ministry, at the University of Toledo, reignited my faith and helped me grow more deeply in my relationship with Jesus.
I first felt called to full-time campus ministry in middle and high school, where I was inspired by incredible Catholic role models and loved helping others find hope and belonging in Christ. That passion was reignited in college after encountering Christ in the Eucharist and meeting FOCUS missionaries who showed me what it truly looks like to live out the mission of winning souls for Christ. I’m excited to live out the heart of 1 Thessalonians 2:8: “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well,” and I’m eager to share not just the message, but my life, in campus ministry.
Becoming a mission partner with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) is an opportunity to play a vital role in the Church’s mission to evangelize college campuses. As a mission partner, you’re not just giving financial support—you’re investing in the transformation of lives, helping young people encounter Christ and live as His disciples. Your partnership allows missionaries to be fully present to students, leading Bible studies, mentoring, and fostering authentic Christian community. Just as vital as financial support are your prayers. Missionaries depend deeply on spiritual backing to remain rooted in Christ and effective in their ministry. Scripture reminds us of the importance of both being sent and sending: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14–15). Through your prayers and generosity, YOU actively share in the mission and spiritual fruit of evangelization.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
