We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hi! It’s Olivia and Ben Oberbroeckling, and we are FOCUS missionaries—welcome to our support page 🙂
“For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39
We will be serving as a married couple at The University of Toledo — Go Rockets!

Olivia was born and raised in a Catholic family. However, she found herself primarily “going through the motions.” The major problem was that she knew some things about Jesus, but didn’t actually know Him personally. This led to her stopping practicing her faith and not going to Mass. During college, she started practicing her faith again. She fell deeply in love with Jesus during this time, and subsequently, fell in love with mission. Her best memories in college were made at her Newman Center, walking with women in authentic and laughter-filled friendships. Olivia knew that there was nowhere else she would rather be than working full-time as a FOCUS missionary post-graduation.
Ben was also born and raised Catholic and practiced his faith throughout his high school years. Praise the Lord, he had great parents who instilled in him a deep faith and taught him how to have a relationship with God. However, later in high school, and especially in college, the allure of partying and drinking got in the way of living a life of virtue—he was living the “double life” as we say, with “one foot in the Church and the other in the bar.” Thanks to lots of encouragement and some hard conversations with the FOCUS missionaries at UW-Platteville, he decided to start centering his life more on the Lord and less on worldly things. The process took time, but ultimately, he not only decided to give up partying himself, but also decided to pass on what he’d learned to other college students as a full-time Catholic missionary with FOCUS. He has been a missionary now for four years and is looking forward to doing his fifth year with his new wife, Olivia.
When we answered the call to join FOCUS, we made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help us through this mission. We have been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with us as we serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with us, please let us know of the best way to reach you, and we will schedule an appointment. We’d be honored to share this mission with you.
“Some give by going, and some go by giving” — we cannot wait to go on mission with you!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
