We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Nothing created has ever been able to fill the heart of man. God alone can fill it infinitely.” – St. Thomas Aquinas
I grew up Catholic, but fell away from the faith in high school and early in college. I just didn’t understand how important Jesus was, or that my happiness consisted in Him. I thought that I could find everything needed for a happy life outside of Him, even if I wouldn’t have stated it that explicitly.
While studying Exercise Science at Hillsdale College (go Chargers!) I was required to take a theology course during my junior year. There, I read the Bible by myself for the first time and felt like I was hit by a truck. I came to know the person of Jesus and felt moved to start cleaning up my life (through His grace of course).
A couple of years passed, and I enrolled at the University of Virginia to get my Master’s in Kinesiology (go Hoos!). I knew Jesus more personally, but I was still living very imperfectly. I met the FOCUS missionaries on staff at UVA and they helped me to realize that I could have so much joy in Christ! They encouraged me to start making the Sacraments a part of my daily life. What a change that has made!
As my time at UVA progressed, I felt called to help bring others to the truth that Jesus alone can satisfy your heart. Not parties, not mere pleasure, not the attention of others. Knowing our Lord is the only path to true and lasting satisfaction. I am unbelievably excited to be a part of FOCUS and to help others see this truth.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission.
One of the best parts about mission is the opportunity to talk to so many different people. I would love to have a conversation about my mission and how you can join me!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
