By Divine Providence, the Lord has called my family and I to serve the students at the University of Rhode Island! I have called Rhode Island home for the past 4 years, and I am so blessed to be on mission in this beautiful state!

I attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where I encountered FOCUS Missionaries who intentionally walked with me as I came to know and love the merciful heart of Jesus Christ.

At UMass, I was pursuing a career in the veterinary field, but as my undergraduate experience was coming to an end I entered my senior year feeling lost, broken, and empty. I saw my peers excited and prepared to embark on their futures and day after day I struggled to figure out what my own purpose would be after college and beyond. Witnessing me in this distress prompted my dear friend, Charlotte, to drag me down to the Catholic Center for some fun a few days before classes were to begin. Though I was…reluctant, at first, it was here that I would go on to meet wonderful people, FOCUS Missionaries, filled with a contagious joy that I so deeply longed to have in my own life. 

Before I knew it, I found myself back at the Catholic center, once again surrounded by these joy filled people. Day after day the missionaries poured themselves into me, and became deeply invested in me as friends and mentors. Through their guidance I would go on to join a Bible Study, learn how to pray, attend daily Mass, and develop profound devotions to the Eucharist and Our Lady. Slowly but surely, I felt myself begin to live out of a place of deep, true joy, just like the missionaries I had encountered only a few months prior. I began to see my purpose as a beloved daughter of God, who’s one true mission was to make it to Heaven and bring souls with her. 

With this new found love and joy for the Gospel message and revelation that I was made for more, I knew I could not contain all that Christ had done in me, it had to be shared – and at least for the meantime, veterinary school was not where I was being called. Instead, God called me to serve high school students as a science teacher in Providence, Rhode Island. I have been given the gift to teach hundreds of high school students over the course of 4 years and it was in this time that I learned how to not only pour Christ into others, but to see Christ in places of poverty, discouragement, achievement, and humanity. 

When Ben and I found out we were expecting our first born, we knew that God was opening a new chapter for our lives, and not just as parents. Slowly but gracefully He began to call our hearts to full time mission. We were shocked at first and often confused that God would be calling us here, but after much prayer and discernment He made it clear that we were made for this. 

So now we embark on this journey, listening to the call of God – to be on mission with FOCUS and to go after the lost souls. To bring the joy of Christ to the hopeless, broken, and discouraged through the witness of our family. To encounter those, who just like me, long for something more. Christ has changed my life through FOCUS missionaries, and it is my prayer that He will do the same through me and my family, for someone else.
