We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Cheers! I’m Rand, & I’m a FOCUS Missionary!
“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of Heaven has suffered violence, and violent men take it by force.”
– Matthew 11:12
God has called me to serve at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas!
I am honored & excited to be working alongside both students and student-athletes as a Varsity Catholic missionary.

This is from placement day, when I first found out I would be assigned to serve at FHSU! Left to right are my teammates: Annabelle, Paige, Ella, Anthony, & myself.
In this life, I’ve come up with only two hard, incontrovertible facts: there is a God, and I’m not him.

If the story is mine, it is only because God is the author of it. He began writing my story in suburban West Georgia, where I was raised with strong values and morals, but I lacked a strong foundation of a prayerful relationship with Jesus.
My life was rocked when my loving mother passed from cancer while I was still in High School.
Like so many others, I became indoctrinated with the lies that the world taught me as they came up from an early age in my life. I grieved & coped with the significant losses in my life by falling into a mire of pride, sin, and darkness. I had no capacity for asking Jesus what He wanted for me in my life, preferring instead to chase after my own desires & will. Though I still did have a thread, a small ember of faith in my life, knowing Jesus was my Savior despite all of the sin I was living in.
My life changed forever during my time as a college student at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.
Through the invitation of a friend, I went to adoration for the first time. Words cannot express the intense wave of emotions that flooded through me in my encounter with the true presence of Christ. Before long, I was attending Mass regularly & had the opportunity to attend Seek in St. Louis in January ’23. I found community through the Catholic Center at UGA and took up leadership responsibilities I felt I wasn’t prepared for, gave talks I wasn’t confident to give, and grew relationships with friends I felt unworthy of having. But God doesn’t call the equipped – he equips the called. He was calling me into something greater than I had ever experienced before – an authentic relationship with Him.
Through mission, I have been able to take part in God bringing His sons home to His heart. This has shown me in such a tangible way that there is nothing better that I could do than to give away my life for the sake of the Gospel.
This is what I have the honor of doing through FOCUS- to serve God’s children and share that He has abundant life waiting for them. I feel especially drawn to this as a means of paying forward the blessings I received as a college student. We are all called to “go and make disciples of all nations…” (Mt. 28:19), and God has called me to do this on a college campus, ministering to a lost generation and bringing children home to their Father.
I get to spread the Gospel not only to college students & student-athletes, but also to my Mission Partners. It is a great privilege to invite others to join this mission spiritually and financially. If this mission or my story inspires you in any way, I want to talk with you! Please reach out to me personally either by phone at 404-984-8838 or through email at [email protected].
It would be a privilege to have you partner with me in this life-changing mission!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
