Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.

I serve at the University of Arizona! This is FOCUS’ team UofA: me, Gabe, Jason and Sara

My Story

I grew up in a family that was very faith oriented. My home was a place where I learned that I am beloved to my Heavenly Father and that He wants a relationship with me. I always heard my dad talk about having a “personal relationship with Jesus” and I wanted that, but never felt like I actually knew Him. Despite the sporadic, beautiful prayer experiences that I had throughout high school at various camps and youth ministry events, I found myself in a very confused and doubtful place as a freshman in college. In the midst of loneliness, homesickness, and being overwhelmed by the looming responsibilities of adulthood, I started to wonder if my faith was a fairy tale.

By the grace of God, I decided to join a FOCUS bible study because I knew I needed friends. This study was the first place that I encountered beautiful women that were in love with Jesus and were willing to show me how to become His friend. The leader of my study pursued friendship with me and was a witness of deep joy even in the ordinary, mundane moments. I attended the SEEK conference my freshman year which lit a fire in me to be changed for Christ. From there, I began to pray regularly and even lead my own bible study.

My college experience totally transformed me. I am so grateful for the women who were walking before me and guiding me to the Father. I am so excited to be spending this time of my life being radically available to students on campus who are looking for God! Although they may not even know it, all college students are aching for Him and will do anything to fill or numb that. I am honored to be someone who can introduce them to the One who aches in return.
