God placed the call to mission on my heart during my undergrad at KU. Now, I have the honor of answering that call as a first-year missionary at Pitt State University! This year, I will be spreading the Gospel alongside my new team: the Heard family (left), the Bennet family (right), and my fellow first-year Bailey (bottom left). Look out, Kansas, we’re not done with each other yet! GO-RILLAS!!

Growing up as a Catholic, I spent a lot of time thinking about how I had to go to Mass or I had to attend religion classes. By the time I was going to college at KU, I was thinking about how it was time for me to choose my faith rather than idly participate in it. It wasn’t until my second semester that I got involved with FOCUS on my campus after seeing how FOCUS missionaries at my friends’ campus impacted them.

From my sophomore year on, I grew deeper in love with Jesus and in fellowship with the students around me. I first felt a desire for mission that year, and only felt that desire grow throughout my junior and senior years. It was during my final semester at KU that I applied and interviewed for a position with FOCUS, and, with great joy and peace, accepted their offer. Now, I am humbled to truly know that God prepared this place for me, and I look forward to living abundantly for this mission.

The mission of FOCUS is to know Christ Jesus and to fulfill the Great Commission. When I said yes to FOCUS, I said yes to placing complete trust in God, following the disciples as Jesus told them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money” (Luke 9:3). Your gift allows me to go to campus and reach the college women who need to hear Christ’s word, making you an irreplaceable part in the building and expansion of Christ’s Kingdom.
