I am a missionary serving at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia! This is a public, non-Catholic university with around 15,000 students. My family of six live in Carrollton and this will be my first year as a FOCUS missionary! I cannot be more excited to get out in the community I love and proclaim the Gospel to these young people to help them hear about Christ and bring them into a deeper relationship with Christ. I will be mostly working with the young men and helping them establish a foundation in their understanding of their identity as sons of God called to lead this next generation of Christians.

Why would a 30 year old father with four young children and a wonderful wife to support decide to leave his career as a financial advisor to enter full time into a missionary career where he has to fully raise his own salary? The answer to that is he has a calling and found an organization that is completely in line with that calling. My name is Sean Stassie and I am that father! I graduated from Berry College in 2017 and received my Master’s Degree from Franciscan University in 2025. I converted from believing in nothing to joining the Catholic Church in 2021 when I also married my beautiful wife. God has provided me with a great deal of clarity as to where he wants me to be in order to carry out his calling for me to bring young people closer to Jesus Christ by presenting them with the Gospel in a way that meets them where they are at.

FOCUS does this better than any other organization and it was a no brainer for me that this is where the Lord was calling me. I spent hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament in discernment and the fire inside me has never burned more than when I prayed about this opportunity. Why now though? The mission of evangelizing our college students is more urgent than ever in this current time. With the worldly influence on our youth, it is vital to have full support from all Christ followers to combat this with the Word of God and the action and support of missionaries. In every age in the Church’s deep history there have been the greatest missionary saints made when the world was suffering greatly and many were falling away from the Church. It was due to the support both spiritually and financially of the faithful that allowed these missionaries to carry out their calling.

Supporters are needed and central to carrying out this mission because without you all, I am unable to provide for my family and myself and would render me unable to carry out my missionary work. If I cannot carry out my missionary work then that will lead to many college students not hearing the Gospel and being discipled to. I would be so grateful to have you join my ministry team as a mission partner to allow you not only to support but participate in this beautiful ministry that I have committed myself to.
