Hi! I am so excited to start my first year of mission at the University of Wisconsin – Madison!

My Story

Hi! My name is Sofia, and I am so excited to be serving as a first-year FOCUS missionary at the University of Wisconsin – Madison! 🦡❤️

A little bit about myself, I am a South Florida girl, and recently graduated from Florida State University with a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Communications. Although I was raised Catholic, it wasn’t until college that my faith truly became my own. Through FOCUS, I was able to encounter Jesus in a personal way and discovered the peace and freedom that come from trusting Him.

As FOCUS helped me grow closer to the Lord, I found myself wanting to follow in the footsteps of my missionaries and help others encounter Christ. Through participating and leading Bible studies and discipleship groups, the Lord put on my heart the desire to become a FOCUS missionary.

The journey here has already been an adventure! I originally expected to attend training at Ave Maria University and serve somewhere in the South, but the Lord surprised me! (as He often does!) He led me to Nebraska for training and eventually placed at UW Madison, a place I never imagined myself going. Throughout the process, the Lord is continually reminded me that His plans are better than my own.

I am on fire for the Lord and so excited to start at UW Madison accompanying others as they grow in their faith and discover the love of Jesus Christ and His Church. Thank you for being part of this mission through your prayers and support! (Also please say an extra prayer for this South Florida girl as I experience my first Wisconsin winter 😭🙏🏻)
