I currently serve at St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Indianola, IA!

I am in my seventh year as a FOCUS missionary! After spending four years as a campus missionary in Indiana, I heard the call to be a missionary in a parish. Now I am starting my third year as a parish missionary and my first year at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Why be on mission in a parish? A few reasons come to my mind when I’m asked that question. Primarily, the parish is where the family is formed. If families come to know Christ Jesus, hopefully children will be less likely to leave their Catholic faith once they go off to college. Secondly, the Catholic bishops have asked FOCUS to go into their parishes to transform the diocese in this way. I would not be moving to be in a parish if the bishops didn’t ask for missionaries there – I would have stayed a missionary on a college campus otherwise. Thirdly, all are deserving of hearing about a life of prayer and discipleship with Jesus; it shouldn’t be limited to just college students!

I’ve seen in my own life what discipleship and prayer can do. I’m a different man than I was when I joined staff because prayer and fellowship have changed lives around me – it has changed students I’ve worked with, missionary teammates of mine, and it’s changed my own life. I’m super excited to see how it can transform St. Thomas Aquinas as well and I would love to have you on the team!
