The Lord has called me to serve at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS!! I am so excited to share the Gospel across campus and create space for women to encounter Christ’s endless mercy! TO THE TOP!!!!!!

Meet my team! Natasha, me, Jack, & Jordan!!!

I grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where I was blessed to be raised in a Catholic family and receive a Catholic education. My parents did a wonderful job of showing me the importance of attending Mass, daily prayer, and keeping the Lord at the center of my life.

Going into my freshman year at Louisiana State University, I was determined to join Greek Life, excel academically, and get involved at our parish on campus, Christ the King. While getting involved in my sorority and excelling academically came fairly easily to me, getting involved at Christ the King proved to be a challenge I did not expect.

I wouldn’t say that I ever fell away from the faith, but if you don’t understand the way that the Lord longs to pursue you, it is easy to run away from Him. Looking back on college now, I see the way the Lord was patient with me. He never gave up on drawing me near to Him, but I was looking in every direction to satisfy a need that only He could provide for me. I spent so much of my time searching for fulfillment in achievement, friendships, and others’ approval, only to find myself feeling empty. This led to some of the darkest and loneliest times of my life.

Growth in holiness is not always a straight path, and there were seasons when I found myself carrying burdens that felt far too heavy to bear on my own. During one of those seasons, I ran to a FOCUS missionary at LSU. She asked if I had asked the Lord to join me in my suffering. We can be quick to pray for the suffering to go away, and we should be bold and ask the Lord for these things, but what if enduring this pain could bring our own “resurrection,” just as it did for the Lord?

I thought the Lord would never understand the immense pain, loneliness, and sadness I was going through, but if we look to His Passion, Death, and Resurrection, we see that He knows what it is like to experience all of these things. He knew my exhaustion and wanted to walk through it with me. “When you pass through waters, I will be with you; through rivers, you shall not be swept away. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, nor will flames consume you. For I, the Lord, am your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior.” (Isaiah 43:2-3).

He longed to take it off my shoulders because He had already gone through it and conquered it, and my missionary helped me understand this so beautifully. I have grown in understanding of the way the Lord loves me unconditionally because of the way my missionary has loved me without hesitation, and I have grown in deep conviction that no one should ever go without knowing the depths of the Lord’s love for us. It changed my life, and I want to do the same for the women at the University of Southern Mississippi. The reality is that there are young women at Southern Miss who feel exactly the way I once felt, and my heart breaks knowing that many of them are carrying burdens alone because they do not yet know the God who is pursuing them.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to fully rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. It has been such a gift to surrender myself to the Lord in this way fully, and it has grown my faith tremendously!!

Every student deserves the opportunity to hear that they are loved by God and never alone. My life was changed because someone was willing to say “yes” to this mission, and I am asking you to prayerfully consider saying “yes” as well.
