Have you ever told God: “I want to grow… to know You more… I want to make an impact… to reach more people”?
Whether you’re a student, a FOCUS missionary, a teacher on break, a parent with kids home for the summer, or simply someone seeking renewal—this season offers a powerful opportunity to go deeper in your relationship with the Lord and your mission to others.
Maybe you just attended SEEK and feel that fire. Maybe this year’s been fruitful and you want to keep building. Or maybe it’s been a struggle—and you’re looking for a reset.
Wherever you are, the good news is this: God is ready to move—if you’re willing to act.
Before you start, find out what the two foundations of your summer game plan should be.
Here’s a simple 5-step Catholic summer action plan to help you grow closer to Christ and make an impact this summer:
1. HAVE DAILY PRAYER TIME WITH GOD
No matter your schedule, daily prayer has to be your anchor. Whether you’re used to praying on campus, during a commute, or while your kids nap—summer can disrupt your rhythm.
Set a time. Make the decision that your personal prayer time is the non-negotiable part of your day. Be willing to make sacrifices (like turning off Netflix early or waking up before the household starts moving). Because you can’t give what you don’t have.
Use this guide to help you set a daily prayer routine. And if you have the space, set up your own prayer space in your home!
2. FREQUENT THE SACRAMENTS
Daily mass, regular confession, and time in adoration can transform your summer.
Find a parish near you and build the sacraments into your routine. The grace you receive is the fuel for the mission God is calling you to—whether that’s in your home, your neighborhood, your workplace, or your parish.
3. PRAY FOR OTHERS INTENTIONALLY
Before reaching out, start by lifting others up.
A simple way to start is to use a prayer journal. Write down names of people God places on your heart—friends, coworkers, former classmates, family, neighbors. Learn how to pray intercessory prayer here.
You never know how He might move through your prayers.

4. START A BIBLE STUDY
Summer is the perfect time to gather people for scripture.
Whether it’s a group of friends, your adult kids, young adults at your parish, or even a few coworkers during lunch—lead a Bible study. Even a 4-6 week series can make a difference.
FOCUS offers free studies to help you get started at focusequip.org.
5. HELP OTHERS REACH OUT
You don’t have to do it all yourself. Discipleship means multiplying your impact.
If you’ve been mentored or discipled, think about who you can walk with this summer—especially those who want to reach others but don’t know how. Use resources from focusequip.org for tools to support you.
Don’t Miss the Moment
Summer isn’t just a break—it’s a window. A chance to reset, go deeper, and prepare for whatever comes next. Whether you’re in college or long past it, these months can be foundational for a life of mission.
Make your plan. Find someone to hold you accountable. And most importantly—show up each day ready to respond to God’s invitation.
This summer can change your life—and someone else’s.
